Eaton Bolsters Wildfire Mitigation Efforts
September 15, 2021
In the past five years, California wildfires have increased not only in frequency but in tenacity. 2021 is trending to set another state record as the Dixie fire alone has scorched nearly one million acres of precious land with at least two months left in our wildfire season. Naturally, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has significantly expanded its fire protection codes and safety standards to mitigate wildfire risk.
Eaton, with the help and coordination of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), has fully embraced these measures in the hopes of slowing and preventing further destruction to our state. This industry collaboration involves passing a myriad of rigorous equipment and hardware tests to achieve CAL FIRE exemption status and continually providing leading-edge solutions such as robust switchgear systems and implementing powerful grid planning software.
The war against wildfires will never fully be over, but Eaton is doing its part by staying vigilant, compliant, and contributing essential tools to the fight.
