Supporting Essential Infrastructure & Manufacturing in Northern California

In light of Monday’s reports concerning COVID-19, we would like to share our Business Continuity Plan with you and also explain our role as an Essential Business within our communities. On March 16th, government officials representing the six most populous Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara) announced a “Shelter in Place” order. This legal Order affects all of us in the Bay Area, requiring residents to stay home and limit non-essential activity, travel, and business functions as of Tuesday, March 17th.

As an essential business, Buckles-Smith provides services and supplies to power and water/wastewater utilities, electrical contractors, transportation, hospitals and other critical infrastructure providers throughout Northern California. Additionally, we play a crucial role in the supply chain for local food, pharmaceutical, and medical device production facilities. While many of you will be temporarily closing during this Order, Buckles-Smith will remain open to support our essential infrastructure and manufacturing customers who rely on us to operate. 

Given the severity of efforts in place to slow the spread of COVID-19, we are adapting our approach in consideration of what is happening locally. We will maintain the following practices through Tuesday, April 7th, or until our County Health Officers lift the restrictions.

• We continue to evaluate ways to keep our employees and their families, our suppliers and customers, and our community safe.
• We continue to promote best practice guidelines from public health officials, the CDC, and local authorities to protect the health and welfare of Northern Californians.
• Our account managers and delivery personnel will continue to follow customer protocol concerning COVID-19, and our essential staff on-site will continue to practice social distancing.
