Networks 101

Apr 28

Would you like to learn more about Stratix managed switches and how they can improve your network performance? Ethernet networks are now the most common type of network used in industrial automation. Managed Ethernet switches offer a much more secure, robust, and auditable controls network.

9:00a - 3:00pIn this seminar, we will discuss:

  • What is Ethernet?

  • What is a switch? What is the difference between unmanaged and managed switches?

  • Features of managed switches, including VLAN’s, Loop Prevention (Spanning Tree Protocol, etc.), NAT, DHCP, Port Mirroring, and Device-Level Ring (DLR)

  • The Rockwell Automation Stratix switch product portfolio and integration with control systems

There are three hands-on labs included in the Networks 101 seminar using remote Stratix managed switch hardware. The labs will cover:

  • Initial switch configuration using Express Setup and the Device Manager

  • Features of the Stratix 2500 lightly-managed switch

  • Explore the use of the Stratix 5400 in the Cell/Area zone as part of the Rockwell Automation/Cisco/Panduit “Converged Plantwide Ethernet” (CPwE) architecture
